🌱 Golden Beet Seeds
Beta vulgaris
A stunning golden beet with sweet, mellow flavor ✨🌿, Golden Beet stands out with smooth, round roots 💛🌱 and bright yellow flesh that stays vibrant when cooked. Its mild, earthy taste is far less intense than traditional red beets, making it ideal for fresh salads, roasting, or creative culinary plating.
👅 Flavor Profile:
Mildly sweet 🍯, tender 🥗, with subtle earthy undertones 🌰 — a gentle, approachable beet flavor.
🍴 Culinary Uses:
🥗 Slice raw into salads for a pop of sunny color and crisp texture
🥘 Roast wedges to bring out natural sweetness and caramelized flavor
🥒 Pickle slices or matchsticks for vibrant, tangy garnishes
🍲 Add to soups, stews, or grain bowls for color and mild sweetness
🍰 Use in baking (cakes, muffins, or brownies) for moisture without overpowering color
👨🍳 Chef’s Pitch:
Golden Beet is the chef’s colorful secret 🌱👨🍳💛. Its bright, uniform yellow flesh, mild sweetness, and tender texture make it perfect for mixed-color salads, elegant roasts, and eye-catching presentations. A versatile, dependable beet that’s as beautiful as it is delicious.
🌱 Growing Notes:
🪴 Annual root crop, 55–65 days to maturity
💛 Round, smooth yellow roots, 2–3” diameter
🌞 Thrives in full sun, well-drained fertile soil
🍃 Tender greens also edible, mild and nutritious
📦 Stores well after harvest
Start indoors 8–10 weeks before last frost. Germinate at 26–30 °C on a heat mat; peppers stall below 22 °C. Pot up to 10–15 cm before hardening off outside after nights stay above 12 °C.
Feed balanced through bloom, then bump potassium for fruiting. Stake taller varieties. More detail in our full Canadian growing guide.
Match the pepper to the technique: thin-walled varieties blister fast in a hot pan; thick-walled ones roast or stuff beautifully; fruit-forward ones make balanced sauces and pickles. The variety's flavour profile is your shortcut — see Choosing the right pepper for a use-case guide.
