Red Barron Mustard Seeds
Red Barron is a bold red-purple mustard green with frilled leaves, quick growth, and a lively mustard bite. Harvest young for salads and garnishes, or cook it like tender greens.
In The Kitchen
Use young leaves raw with citrus and oil, or wilt mature leaves into noodles, broths, beans, and rice. The deep colour makes a striking garnish.
Growing Notes
- Sow in cool weather in fertile, evenly moist soil.
- Succession sow every few weeks for continuous baby leaves.
- Harvest young leaves for a milder bite.
- Provide afternoon shade as temperatures rise.
Packet: 10+ seeds. Leaf colour and heat are strongest in cool growing conditions.
Start indoors 8–10 weeks before last frost. Germinate at 26–30 °C on a heat mat; peppers stall below 22 °C. Pot up to 10–15 cm before hardening off outside after nights stay above 12 °C.
